ABOUT THIS TRACK
The Reefton Lookout Loop is a popular 10 km(ish) loop along forestry roads from Reefton township which includes the Zig Zag Track. It is accessed from the Zig Zag Track, Soldiers Road or the Globe Hill Track. Be sure to stay on the main forestry road, as several side routes branch off, most of which are blind ends. Use the GPX route to help.
The loop offers panoramic views of Reefton, the Inangahua River valley and surrounding native beech forests.
Going clockwise up the Zig Zag is a short, steeper climb and long downhill (great for running), going anticlockwise along Soldiers Road and down the Zig Zag is a more gradual climb then a shorter, steeper descent (great for biking).
