We help care for Reefton’s existing tracks through regular working bees and volunteer maintenance. We organise volunteer inductions, keep our tools and equipment in good order, and work with the community and Department of Conservation to identify and respond to track issues.

We want to see Reefton’s trail network grow and offer more opportunities for people to explore the area. We support new trail ideas and projects, and work with others to identify opportunities to develop and connect tracks.

We’re working to make it easier to find useful, up-to-date information about Reefton’s tracks. This includes mapping tracks, collecting GPX files and photos, recording descriptions and sharing the latest information we have about track conditions.

There are some great tracks around Reefton, and we want more people to know about them and get out and use them. We promote the trails through social media, newsletters and other opportunities, and are always looking for new ways to showcase what’s here.

We can’t do it all ourselves, and working with others is an important part of how we operate. We partner with local organisations, the Department of Conservation, businesses and others to support trail maintenance, development, promotion and advocacy.

Volunteers are at the heart of the Reefton Trail Collective. We coordinate working bees and other volunteer activities, provide inductions and look after the tools and equipment needed to get the job done. We want volunteering with us to be practical, enjoyable and a good way to contribute to Reefton’s trails.
